He's been designing and ripping on high performance surfboards since he was a grom and has made a living through these passions for the past 18 years. Wax On, Wax Off

We've got two new shows at Korduroy. Wax On is a how-to on making your own organic surf wax from scratch. The formula we give in the video is for 66-72 degree water. You can experiment with the ratio of the ingredients for optimum consistency. The Wax Off, pantyhose wax remover will remove anything from oils, to not yet hardened glues. It was inspired by the Pickle Wax remover and works just as well if not better.

The two newest Sea Movies episodes (Evening Africa and Windy Harrison) on Korduroy.tv are from our friend Dustin Miller, a talented filmmaker who recently collaborated with talented surfer/artist Mikey DeTemple on Picaresque. Both clips are shot in super 16mm film. Evening Africa is a short Dustin shot while filming in Jefferies Bay a couple years back. Windy Harrison features The Present star Harrison Roach while filming for Picaresque in Costa Rica.

A new edition to Korduroy.tv's "Sea Movies," WAVE CLOUD SAND is a beautiful short film captured on the east coast of Australia.

Circulate Director- "I wanted to make a short piece that paid tribute to the elements and allowed the viewer a chance to use their imagination a bit. Each clip is meant to represent a photo or a single moment in time, sort of like a photo album in motion."

Our friends at Grain Surfboards have written something about the Korduroy trip to Maine on their site. These guys make beautiful wooden boards, from logs and fishes, to a new collab with Channel Islands. They also conduct classes and sell kits on building your own fine hand shaped wooden surfboard... which is what we're all about at Korduroy TV.

We got to sit in and film abit with them during one of their classes. There couldn't be a more soulful setting then their centuries old farm outside of York, Maine. Check out the article here.

Meet Luke

Luke Taaffe is an incredibly talented and generous man. An artist/designer/surfer from NSW, Australia, he designed the Korduroy.tv pyramid which is a socio/political statement about turning our ever strengthening class system into a paradise. He also contributed illustrated elements to our animation within the korduroy.tv preview video.

We had the opportunity to check out Luke's work in Maine and it was truly inspired. He uses many found objects from old skateboards to vintage suitcases as his canvases. His work has been featured in galleries around the world and can be purchased through his website at Euphoria Graphics or at Retrospect Galleries in Byron Bay where his work is permanently displayed. Keep your eyes peeled for a future interview with Luke in the Korduroy Kollective.

Inspired by the shape of leaves falling from his Mango tree. Wright Walden from Miami stripped down an old longboard, re-glassed it and made himself a handplane. An act of non-conformity to heighten his connection with nature- Emerson would have been proud!

The film features a tutorial on how to shape your own alaia with Tom Wegener along with a surf film on riding them... filmed along the California and Australian coast. The trip to Maine was pretty epic. After showing artwork and film at Corduroy in Portland Maine and having a fun show, we were just in time for some serious waves thanks to Hurricane Bill. Heaving beach breaks, firing points, and sliding on finless alaias in small coves were just a few of the highlights from the swell. We met up with some fellow artists from the Pine Haven Collective, journalists from the Drift magazine site, and got to tour Grain Surfboards in York. A feature will be coming soon. The artwork from the show will be posted and will be for sale in the coming days as well. Cyrus showed his new film Tom's Creation Plantation (for sale now), in addition to producing fine photographs printed on wood, painted, and sealed with beeswax. Ryan Tatar showed a series of photographs taken with pre 1978 cameras and cross processed at a 1hr drugstore. Thanks to our new friends in Maine. We are stoked.

Last weekend we held an event with Patagonia Cardiff and Jon Wegener. Jon Wegener held classes on how to make and shape your own Alaia with surfer and Korduroy kingpin Cyrus Sutton. Cyrus also put out a limited release of his new film "Tom's Creation Plantation" with hand made packaging. The film is 1/2 alaia shaping tutorial and half surf movie. Welcome to all things Korduroy.TV. This blog will be updated with plenty of cool stuff and other junk we think is important.

Korduroy.TV was born from a disillusionment with our culture of mass production. From ocean swells to mountains and their valleys, we live in a playground of free gravitational fun. Its this bounty that has inspired us to create a place that promotes self-sufficiency, craftsmanship, and a surfing experience of our own design.

Our first new video series is called "All Yew". 2-4 minute shows about people making and riding a surf craft born from their imagination - anything from toliet lids to thrusters.

The second show is called "Surf Sufficient" and is a series of video tutorials showing tips and how to make, fix, and reuse all things surf from fixing up your old beach bicycle, getting the most fuel for your car, and making organic surf wax and sunblock.

These shows are both open to you to contribute so if you'd like to make your own surfboard/craft or would like to share how to make/fix/reuse something cool feel free to drop us a line at info@korduroy.tv
